This is a picture of a couple of the important last hopes of humanity from a sci-fi story I have bouncing around the inside of my skull..

The Male in front is a Conclave unit. They're about 50% biological and 50% nanites and software resulting in a genetically engineered supercomputer who manipulates space-time with their wills.

The Conclave came first and invented a symbiotic weapons system called Nemesis. It augmented their powers thousands of times over. Unfortunately the Conclave numbers were insufficient to defeat the enemies of mankind so they developed a newer, heavy weapons class of humanoid weapon that was specifically designed to interface with the Nemesis symbiotic weapons.

They were called Oni. And that's the female one in the back.
